Key Responsibilities

  • Develop safety‑critical software for digital I&C platforms used in reactor protection, engineered safety features actuation, and other safety‑class functions.
  • Translate system and regulatory requirements into detailed software requirements, design specifications, and implementation plans.
  • Implement software using approved development tools and methods appropriate for safety‑class applications (e.g., structured programming, formal methods, model‑based development).
  • Support software architecture definition, including redundancy, determinism, diversity, and fail‑safe behavior.
  • Perform software engineering test activities.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear and safety‑critical software standards such as IEC 60880, IEC 62138, IEEE 7‑4.3.2, IEC 61513, IEEE 1012and applicable NRC regulatory guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain lifecycle documentation, including requirements traceability, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and licensing teams to ensure integrated, licensable solutions.
  • Participate in hazard analyses, FMEA, and software contributions to the safety case.

You will work with the Nondestructive Examinations (NDE) Engineering organization, which designs tooling and complex robotic systems to perform inspects of nuclear plants around the world!
