What You’ll Do Day-To-Day

Accountability Coordinator:

  • Oversee material tracking efforts, perform periodic item control audits, and conduct an annual site physical inventories.

Measurement Control Program Coordinator:

  • Monitor and estimate measurement accuracy and ensure appropriate measurement controls are applied.
  • Estimate inventory uncertainties to ensure the measurement control program has sufficient accuracy to fulfill NRC requirements.

Records Coordinator:

  • Generate and maintain accounting records and submissions to the U.S. Nuclear Material Management Safeguards System (NMMSS) database.
  • Apply for and manage all necessary nuclear material import and export licenses.
  • Review changes to plant processes and procedures to ensure FNMCP requirements are met.
  • Revise Safeguards programs to implement Safeguards improvements or FNMCP revisions.
  • Apply MC&A principles to plant upsets, process changes, and special projects.
  • Assist with NRC and IAEA inspections.
  • Review changes to the FNMCP.
  • May mentor less experienced Safeguard Specialists.

As a Safeguards Specialist - II you will be part of the nuclear Material Control and Accounting team that supports the Framatome nuclear fuel fabrication plant in Richland, WA.  The level II position is intended for persons with 5+ years of MC&A experience.

The MC&A team is part of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Licensing department that supports the fabrication of commercial nuclear fuel for both traditional light water reactors and new advanced reactors.  The MC&A team ensures that nuclear material present at the Richland WA plant is accurately measured and tracked so that any losses are detected as required by federal regulations and international agreements.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Science, Engineering or related field. Related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience. 
  • Knowledge in nuclear MC&A in the manufacturing environment, MC&A related statistical tools, and inventory uncertainty methodologies. 
  • Excellent communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
  • Grows developed network and maintains good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.

Total Rewards Package

  • Salary: $94,000 - $127,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
